Preventive Care

We want to help make your smile last! Routine checkups and cleanings are important in preventing dental problems. Everyone’s dental needs are different so recommendations can be made as to the ideal frequency of preventive maintenance visits. Good homecare habits are the best way of preventing dental disease. Our dental professionals will provide your family with complete homecare instructions including brushing and flossing techniques. Prevention of trauma to the teeth and oral tissues during sporting activities is very important. We have a free sportsguard program for our patients. Here at Windsor Smiles, we screen for oral cancer at every checkup appointment.

Fillings

Fillings may be required for a variety of reasons:  to repair teeth that are decayed, chipped or fractured. There are different filling materials available which provide both strength and esthetics. Bonding can be done on discoloured or worn teeth or to reduce gaps between teeth.

Whitening

The colour of teeth can darken with age and the accumulation of stains. We are happy to provide options to combat this problem! We offer a take home whitening system for our patients after a pre-whitening assessment is completed.

In-Office and Take Home Whitening Treatments are both offered at Windsor Smiles Dental Group.

Children’s Dentistry

Did you know that baby’s first visit to the dentist should occur by the age of one year, or when the first teeth appear? At this early age, the checkup visit is kept short and we check for proper development of the oral structures and look for any significant problems. Making routine dental visits a part of a child’s life very early on can greatly reduce future dental problems and the anxiety associated with those problems. At each visit, both parents and children are educated on proper oral hygiene techniques and diet.

Veneers

Veneers are strong, thin pieces of porcelain that are bonded to the teeth. They are used to repair chipped, decayed or stained teeth and may help in closing gaps between teeth.

Crowns

A crown is a dental restoration that covers a tooth that has been weakened by broken tooth structure, decay, large fillings or root canal treatment. A crown makes the tooth stronger and gives it a natural shape. Crowns can be made from various materials such as porcelain, pocelain fused to metal, zirconia or gold.

Replacing Missing Teeth

In most cases, replacing missing teeth is recommended to regain function, to prevent other teeth from shifting and to achieve optimal esthetics. There are three main types of artificial teeth: implants, fixed bridges and removable dentures. These options are designed for specific situations and treatment plans are tailored to our patients’ specific needs and wishes. For our patients who do wear dentures, we can often provide same-day denture repairs.

Root Canal Treatment

Root canal treatment may be necessary if a tooth is decayed or fractured close to or into the nerve of the tooth. The nerve tissue is in the centre of the tooth and during a root canal procedure, this tissue is cleaned out and a root filling material is placed. This treatment may be recommended to prevent or treat a dental abcess.
